michaellinder 16,613 Posted July 23, 2021 OK, I did check out the pistils as you suggested, Laurent . Their appearance compelled me to look for the stamen and I think I caught a very dim glimpse of it at the pistils' bases. Although this image is in monochrome, I suspect the insect is a bee. Certainly its detail, especially on its thorax, is quite sharp. What lens did you use? - - My best always, michael Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 496 Posted July 23, 2021 Laurent, both of these macros of the bee are very beautiful, this one in sepia tone, is the one I prefer because it highlights the shapes and details better, without being disturbed by the color. ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted July 23, 2021 What patience you have. I like this better than the color version, it's somehow a bit cleaner. Link to comment

frigo 4,155 Posted July 24, 2021 Michael...Thank you for examing this one.The small bee must have liked what she found in this flower as she was in no hurry to leave as I shoved this macro lense right up close. The lense is a Tamron 90 mm/f2.8,1:1 Macro explaining the short DOF....getting the focus at the right spot was a trial and error thing as the persistant winds kept shaking the little perch flower, that atop my own camera shake from the uncomfortable shoot position.Glad you like!Salutations-Laurent Link to comment

frigo 4,155 Posted July 24, 2021 Jack...Taking the shot was easy as the perch flower sits in front of the house but the work in PP took a little time as the near antenna needed fiix given it was blurred out due to the short DOF of the macro lense.Thank you for takingtime to look at both shots and for the note.Salutations-Laurent Link to comment
