Jack McRitchie 150 Posted July 23, 2021 I admire your efforts to transpose photo reality to a more painterly world. Although this one doesn't quite make the transition that your very best pictures achieve it is still a very fine attempt with some beautiful work. The dark sections work pretty well though head of the rear gondolier gets lost in the shadows. Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 609 Posted July 24, 2021 Thanks, Jack, for taking time with this image. Yes, I debated working photoshop magic on the headless gondolier but concluded there was sufficient merit in the gestalt of the negative and “positive” space of this image to allow him to remain headless. Although I try to mimic painting techniques and styles, sometimes I feel it is good to allow elements of realism in an image that a camera records but a painter would dismiss. Link to comment
