Thanks Old Friend. So nice to get a substantial comment. Taken with a camera that belonged to the grandfather of my soon-to-be daughter. She'll never meet him, but she'll meet his camera.

Jamie, this image has it all - superb lighting including contrast, composition and perspective, and detail. Even if there were no title to the image, even a viewer whose emotions are substantially impaired pick up on the feel it has.

Exceptional, separated from the average by a long line. For me, it has much of my work: Grain, contrast, perspective (POV), conception, composition. An example for a great Photography Textbook. DG

Hi Jamie,

I'm a little late to comment on your photo of this statue of Archimedes, which is the first image of yours I've seen.; maybe I hesitated because I never was any good in math. I like the fact that you shot the photo on film, which really has a character of its own. I think the film grain suits the beautiful sculpture very well. The light coming (mainly) from the right highlighys the facial features of the art work. Well done! Kind regards, Vincent

Thank you very much, Vincent. The statue is beneath a railway arch, so it is illuminated from 2 opposing sides, but mainly from the south side, as you noticed. best, jamie

Dramatic and funny at the same time. A terrific capture.

Well done.

Thanks a lot, Peter. I saw this statue every day for years, and never thought too much about it. I must go have a look to see who created it.

Hey Dave, Good to be back after a long hiatus. The other sites I tried have all become worse that PhotoNet.... Thanks a lot!

Yes indeed! I used to work at that university. They also have an apple tree grown from a cutting of Newton's very own apple tree.
