JamieK 1 Posted June 22, 2021 Thanks Old Friend. So nice to get a substantial comment. Taken with a camera that belonged to the grandfather of my soon-to-be daughter. She'll never meet him, but she'll meet his camera. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,613 Posted June 22, 2021 Jamie, this image has it all - superb lighting including contrast, composition and perspective, and detail. Even if there were no title to the image, even a viewer whose emotions are substantially impaired pick up on the feel it has. Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted June 22, 2021 Michael, thank you so much! You are most kind. (And the sculptor is amazing!) Link to comment
DGorinstein 20 Posted June 25, 2021 Exceptional, separated from the average by a long line. For me, it has much of my work: Grain, contrast, perspective (POV), conception, composition. An example for a great Photography Textbook. DG Link to comment

vincentoiseau 83 Posted June 25, 2021 Hi Jamie, I'm a little late to comment on your photo of this statue of Archimedes, which is the first image of yours I've seen.; maybe I hesitated because I never was any good in math. I like the fact that you shot the photo on film, which really has a character of its own. I think the film grain suits the beautiful sculpture very well. The light coming (mainly) from the right highlighys the facial features of the art work. Well done! Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted June 26, 2021 Thank you very much, Vincent. The statue is beneath a railway arch, so it is illuminated from 2 opposing sides, but mainly from the south side, as you noticed. best, jamie Link to comment
peter.s 0 Posted June 30, 2021 Jamie Dramatic and funny at the same time. A terrific capture. Well done. Regards, Peter. Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted July 1, 2021 Thanks a lot, Peter. I saw this statue every day for years, and never thought too much about it. I must go have a look to see who created it. Link to comment

JamieK 1 Posted August 5, 2021 Yes indeed! I used to work at that university. They also have an apple tree grown from a cutting of Newton's very own apple tree. Link to comment
