a very appealing semi-abstract composition! Nice lines of these roots leading the eye. Colors look natural. I can see you edited the image, but I can't really tell how it has affected the result, since I didn't see the 'before'. It looks like the textures of the roots have been amplified in some way. Hi Vincent! Thanks very much for your comments. I did do modifications to make it look a bit like a detailed water color. Don’t think I could replicate it as I cannot remember all the adjustments I made. It is not radically different from the original photo.

Not only the powerful impression of some alien form invading a tree, slowly advancing like a gigantic greyish octopus but....do I see some fragments of a brittle substance such as glass in between some of the roots?
