vincentoiseau 83 Posted May 14, 2021 This is the teddy bear I had as a child and still keep as a memory of my childhood. As you can see, time (over half a century) has not been kind to this play fellow. It has lost an ear (in the tradition of a great painter) and its fur has become a bit shabby. I could have photographed it in a childlike environment, which would have been appropriate, but I chose to make a kind of 'studio portrait', letting its features speak for themselves. Your comments are very welcome. Link to comment
FranzWeber 368 Posted May 15, 2021 Vincent, didn't I see it at Moyland Castle? Regards, Franz Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted May 15, 2021 Hi Kathy, thank you for your friendly comment! Yes, I really loved my teddy, I wonder if they're still around. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted May 15, 2021 Hi Franz, thanks for your friendly comments! I think my Teddy might have felt a bit uneasy with the Joseph Beuys art at Moyland castle; it was more into fairytale pictures and book illustrations. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted May 15, 2021 Hi Franz, 'Wie Man dem Toten Hasen die Bilder Erklärt' scared the shit out of my Teddy. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment

tai 3 Posted May 15, 2021 Nice Teddy portrait, Vincent! The absence of one ear makes it more touching. My family also had Teddy. Thanks for the idea! I will try to find and capture it for the family archive. Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana Link to comment

vincentoiseau 83 Posted May 15, 2021 Hi Tatiana, thank you for your friendly and personal comments! I think every family should have at least one teddy; maybe they are more important to the process of growing up than they seem. I wonder if today's little children still have them. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
michaellinder 16,613 Posted May 15, 2021 Vincent, I'm glad for you. Still deriving companionship and happiness from your teddy bear clearly motivated you to photograph it and, better still, to share it with us. The fact that its physical condition is not optimal is irrelevant. Indeed, the loss of its right ear gives it a rather impish appearance. In retrospect, I wish with as much energy I can muster that I had such a companion as a young child. - - My best always, michael Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted May 15, 2021 Hi Michael, thank you so much for these kind words! When I stumbled upon this old friend again years ago, there was still a feeling of comfort and affection. I like your remark about the loss of its right ear giving it a 'rather impish appearance', which is something I always felt when I was small. I was convinced my teddy was 'in' on my little secrets and would never tell them to others. I feel for you not having had a companion like this as a young child, I think it helps build character and confidence. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
