Giangiorgio - I agree that these figures are like lifesized chess pieces. Gaudi had these figures [or their heads] at least in a number of his works. Another excellent example of them can be seen in the Casa Mila in Barcelona also - I have a photo in my gallery of them. The photo is titled Chess pieces... :)))
