Your narrative, Daniel, expresses exactly how I feel about photographing homeless persons. Until the pandemic, I had volunteered at a homeless in my area for quite a few years on a regular basis - once a week for two hours - helping residents of the facility in its rather small gym (where I worked out as well). Experiencing the plight of such persons in NYC was the tipping point for me. In any case, this is a brilliantly conceived and expertly fashioned image. My eye and my feelings were drawn initially to the bottom third, which is comparatively sharper than the balance of the image. If it was your intent to soften the detail of the man sleeping wedged in the corner of an alcove with what could be his only other worldly possession (a bowl) to demonstrate how his life is loaded with extreme ambiguity and therefore extreme anxiety, you have succeeded, hands down. At least, he found a semi-private place. - - My best always, michael
