Yaquina Head Lighthouse

This majestic beauty stands 93 feet tall, and utilizes over 370,000 bricks. Built in 1872, it still lights the Oregon Coast to this day.

 

Shot with an Olympus E-PL1 and a manual focus Tokina 24-40 ATX lens.

This is not a cliche shot, modest one! What separates it is the high f/stop, long focal range, which gives the good foreground story telling component of the vegetation beneath, which most shots miss. Looks like a fresnel lens in the lighthouse.

Thank you, Jack, I appreciate the kind words. That definitely is a Fresnel lens (I have another, much closer photo of it in my photos); fortunately they let you go up in the lighthouse and get right up into the lantern room.
