greeneye

t: 0,7 / f: 4.0, ISO 400 - shoot by hand (no possibility to use mini-tripod) and still confused about the sharpness;)

This is much better than my "Peak View" shot. This place in HK is a good benchmarking; it seems that everybody try to take a similar picture with more or less success.

This is an amazing shot!! It is most certainly best viewed large!! You might consider putting that in the title ("Hong Kong - Peak View 2, Best Viewed Large"), so that people know to do so!!

By the way, I AM from a big city, and I STILL am amazed by this shot. It really does make the world feel closer! Thank you!!

this shot is ok but it could be so much better. What you need to do is shoot this just after the sun sinks below the horizion on a cold day. This will do two things, first the cold temp will get rid of all of that haze, second just after the sun sets it lights the sky whgich reflects in all the buildings windows. giving this effect. http://www.asmphouston.org/webletter/current/photogs/puckett2.html you will most likely have to use a slightly longer exposure, and always shoot at f.22 :). Please e-mail if you get something good.

I think the photo is great. I travel to HK frequently and take shots from the same place. When I saw this shot I was amazed how clear it looked for HK. I would almost bet the shot was taken just after rain to get the atmosphere so clear.

For Donovan's benifit, the sun sets behind you from this vantage point and is hidden by mountains so you do not get the sunset glow as it sinks below the horizon. Also there is no such thing as a cold day in HK (relatively speaking) as the coldest it ever gets is about 20C or 68F. I would rate the clarity of this day at about 1 in 50 at the worst to about 1 in 100 on average.

Good shot Green Eye. Do you have any about an hour or so later? The view would have been incredible at night on such a clear day (for HK).

To me, this is a common scene because I live here :)

You have presented a colourful nightlife city - a city that doesn't sleep ! You also presented the crowded living condition - most of us are occuping a "pigeon hole" in one these high-rise concrete structure, albeit a very very expensive pigeon hole :)

Thanks for promoting this place !

@all: Thank you very much for your feedback

@Frank: I had only 2 days in Hong Kong and people told me that these were the clearest days since a long time:)

@Marlin: I had only a minitripod with me and expected to find a nice place with a nice wall. The "nice" place was very windy and has only a railing where you can put anything on execept your hands. I'am still surprised about the sharpness, but bought me two days later a light tripod to avoid such sitations in the future. As a result of this I was more focused to keep my hands quit than to look what I was shooting and as you can see the Bank of China is cutted (building on the right).

@Alan: I told a friend that I would love to stay a month in Hong Kong to make pictures but I could never imagine to live there due to the "pigeon hole" situation;). You are living in a very interesting city:)

Definitely one of my favorite Hong Kong shots. I agree that it really captures the crowded feel of the city. The color is superb, also.
