Almost summer

When you see these flowers, summer is almost there. Shot on a monpod with a Canon EF 400 mm 5.6 L lens.

I have always liked to walk through large quantities of cow parsley; it's a beautiful sight and it announces summer; the flowers start appearing in may and bloom until the end of june/beginning of july. This was the first time I stopped to photograph it. I like the countless tiny white flowers and the large 'fileds'. I tried to capture both the beauty of the flowers and the number of these plants by filling the frame with them. Your comments are very welcome.

That is amazing, Vincent. The only flowers we have are made from snow and ice. Wonderful colors, light and composition. I like that the flower in focus have sunlight on them and the ones in the background don't. Makes for a great presentation. It's almost like having a Picture-in-a-Picture. Best regards, Paul.

Wonderful memory of the summer, Vincent! I like this odorous humming green carpet! I know this plant and its aroma. Beautifully captured, Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana

Delicate plants with lacy flowers have appeared thanks to the advent and progression of spring toward summer. I fully understand why Paul likened the flowers to ice and snow. Vincent, I suspect some photographers would be tempted to sharpen and saturate the entire frame to a greater extent. Fortunately, you did not do so. The result is a representational photograph, to be sure. Yet it also reflects your own concept of the sort of beauty that is unique to nature, i.e., by displaying a variety of only green tones and (mostly) white highlights . Outstanding . . . My best always, michael

Hi Michael,

thank you for these interesting comments! To me, photographing nature is like an endless journey. There are so many subjects, so many motives. I could have made dozens of photos of just these plants. As you rightly assumed, I wanted to have limited DoF, so I made the photo with a tele lens. Kind regards, Vincent
