.If you meant for this picture, its exposure is about 5 hours total. If you mean how long have I been doing astrophotography, about 6 years.

Really impressive! I have never tried Astrophotography, so 5 hours of exposure seems like an incredible long time for me. I now see your details under the headline. Do you think it could be done with e.g. a normal Nikon camera or is it mandatory to use the mentioned tracking-motor equipment? Well, I guess so, the very long exposure time involved?

Yes, to capture the exposure needed you would need some sort of tracking mount. The mount is probably more important than the camera/optics. A great resource for information and a place to post questions would be cloudynights.com. In general its a bit more involved than terrestrial photography although many of the same principles apply.

Great capture. I was interested in astrophotography as a kid, long before my interest in fine art photography. It's getting more difficult to find areas with low light pollution. Cheers, _Clayton
