Guest Guest Posted September 28, 2019 Maybe the link did not work because they were actually two links directly beside each other. Here is the first https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/kingfisher-on-twig-green-background-488148262 Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 28, 2019 And here is the second link https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/kingfisher-fish-487834069?src=eHrj1q4LexEYWWljloMx1Q-4-99 Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted September 28, 2019 Now that I have seen the photos, I can confirm they have definitely been shot from the same blind, even capturing the same kingfisher! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 30, 2019 So, my dear Vincent? Please unravel the mystery for us. How do you think that could possibly happen...?... ;-) Same blind, same twig, same bird....Same photographer, possibly? ;-) Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted September 30, 2019 Hi Philip, the blind is well known for its opportunities to capture lots bird species, especially kingfishers. For photographers' convenience, the forester has put this branch in front of the blind, so it's not at all surprising that lots of photographers have photos that look the same. For a moment I thought you were insinuating that one or two of us may be not the copyright owners of the posted images :) Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 3, 2019 But there is actually something fishy going on in that picture, right? Just ask the King, ha ha. I was just scratching my head wondering how it is possible for three different photographers on different occasions to get almost the exact same picture of a wild bird catching its prey. It must be an old "occupational hazard" with my education as a news journalist back in the day. Oh well, peace to you all. Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted October 3, 2019 Hi Philip, I totally understand your bewilderment about the seemingly almost impossible coincidence of three guys making a similar photo of (probably) the same bird at the same location, but everything I said about it is true, no matter how crazy it may sound. I hope to have explained why it is less unlikely as it seems. As a former journalist, you can't help to smell 'something fishy' there, I appreciate your critical mindset. Peace to you too. larry_korhank 0 Posted January 25, 2021 This image could win any worldwide photo contest! Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 25, 2021 Hi Larry, thanks a lot for your very appreciative comments! I don't think this would win the big prizes, but I'm proud of getting the shot of course. Glad you like it! Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
larry_korhank 0 Posted January 25, 2021 Today someone sent me a link to the Wiki Loves Earth 2020 winners. Three were Kingfisher images. They were fantastic! But yours is much better!!! My attempts to get even an average Kingfisher image always ends with a string of BAD four letter words. They wait until I’m just about to get in range and dart off laughing! Every time! Wile E Coyote had a better relationship with the Roadrunner than I have with Kingfishers. So that experience makes me even more jealous of your image. I guess I’ll just have to stick to photographing those big, slow birds. Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 26, 2021 Hi Larry, thanks for your compliment and funny comments! This photo was made from a blind; maybe you should check if there's one near you, next to water preferably otherwise you won't see any kingfishers :) Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
scotedw 44 Posted November 23, 2021 Brilliant photo. I have long been waiting the opportunity to capture a kingfisher feeding. The Belted Kingfisher is fairly common in my area - but quite shy. Again congratulations on the stunning photo. Scott Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted November 23, 2021 Hi Scott, thank you for your very friendly comments! Kingfishers are generally shy, but this one wasn't even slightly disturbed by the many shutter sounds from the people in the blind I was in. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
