this is the opposite of a snapshot; I rarely see a photo on PN that is so well composed as this one. That is striking, given the circumstances. With the brightly lit tree as its starlet, this image shows a multitude of lines and planes, in a great variety of tones. Very well done! Kind regards, Vincent

Wolfgang, my comments will be brief, since I don't wish to plagiarize any of the others which came before mine. The masterful lighting clearly is the star of this performance. (Yes, I do think that the term 'performance' is appropriate to apply to photography. ) My joy in extracting fantasies from images leads me to think that the very few bright highlights - those mostly on the ground and less on the tree - must be the result of a very different type of light-generating device, such as a flashlight. The bicycle rack and the small section of hedge contribute to the effect. - - My best always, michael (PS I apologize wholeheartedly for not acknowledging your comments on several of the mages I've posted for critique.
