Verdon river banks

Close to Castellane, there is a place you can 'safely' access the river Verdon. Shot handheld with a Canon 17-55 mm 2.8 lens.

Not far outside of Castellane, on the road to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, there is a place where you can get down to the river Verdon, that runs through very steep and high rocks. It is risky, because the rocks lying in the water all came falling down into the river. But everyone stops here anyway, because it's a such a beuatiful place. The clouds in the background show some nasty weather coming within some hours, which is almost a daily phenomenon, even in summer. Your comments are very welcome.

Nice shot, Vincent! Wonderful frame, colors, details, reflections ... Really green water. I guess this place is not far from "Route Napoleon". Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana

Hi Tatiana,

you're right, as Castellane was on Napoleon's route (I understand he had lunch there), but the region has incredible beauty to offer to any visitor. Kind regards, Vincent

Really love the green colors of the running water, Vincent. Looks like a really great place to go fishing. Lots of rocks where the fish can hide. Excellent position of the river in the composition giving a nice smooth uninterrupted flow through the image. Wonderful colors and light. Fantastic capture of a beautiful place to be. Best regards, Paul.

Hi Paul,

the green color of the water is where the river's name comes from, 'vert' is green in French. It's indeed a beautiful place, but one must not forget that each and every big rock in this river has come down from the canyon walls through which it runs. Thanks for your friendly comments! Kind regards, Vincent
