Walking around the Thumsee (Bayern, Southern Germany) I came across these waterlily leaves. I liked the pattern of the leaves on the water. Your comments are very welcome.

Charming picture, Vincent! Beautifully captured! Harmonious leaves composition on the surface plus guessable in depth. Amazing colors. I like it, Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana

Vincent, this image is clearly a demonstration of how to use camera settings to maximize color and tonal contrasts. There's just enough highlighting to show the small areas of gold and orange, while the midtones and shadows enable the viewer to see the red stems and the rich green of the leaves. Excellent composition and POV as well. - - My best always, michael

Hi Michael,

thanks for your very friendly comments! I did my best to get the most out of the situation, as I always do. In this case, it may have been just a little harder to get it right. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Patrick,

thank you for your friendly comment! It was a very quiet scene indeed, with almost no movement in the water. Kind regards, Vincent

The water lilies fit perfectly into the frame of the image, Vincent. The leaves contrast nicely with the water looking like they are in their own world. I like that you can see into the water because it gives a three dimensional aspect. A great find and beautifully photographed. Greetings, Paul.

Hi Paul,

thank you for your comments on this photo, which is special to me. It's exactly what you say about the three dimensional aspect that feels right; it's the way we look past the surface that means something. Superficial phenomena almost always have deeper reasons. Kind regards, Vincent
