This is one one of the houses that are the result of a 1980's competition to design a temporary house -with no limitations. The houses are not far from where I live and are inhabitated mostly in weekends by the people who won the contest. The houses are all special in one way or another. Your comments are very welcome.

Good find and shot, Vincent! Looks eclectic next to the previous photo you posted. Perhaps the author of this strange house project dreamed of dovecote. Beautifully captured. It seems the house has grown together with the landscape. Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana

Vincent, it is very interesting. Never heard of temporary houses. Seems to be something like a snail shell. Best regards, Franz

There's something almost humorously incongruous about this picture, a building contorted in a yoga pose - all harsh angles and strict geometry - while nature dances around in glee.

Hi Tatiana,

thanks for your nice comments! Yes, it's quite different from the Sandenburg castle indeed. It does have some things in common with a dovecote, e.g. it's a tiny house on stilts, but it does have some strange charm and does not look bad in its surroundings. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Franz,

thanks for your interest! They're not officially called 'temporary houses', but most of them are obviously not made to serve as a permanent home; they're not practical or spacious enough. The terrain they're on is called 'the imagination'. The contest was all about imaginary houses and there are some strange examples to be found there indeed. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Jack,

thanks for your comment and the comparison to a yoga pose. It makes me look differently at this photo. Funny how you notice all the harsh angles and see the contrast of this little house with its surroundings, while Tatiana and I tend to see the way it somehow fits in, based on the same visual signals. Kind regards, Vincent

Vincent, I suspect that, although the structure may look somewhat flimsy (hence, "temporary"), I think otherwise; it's made of metal and its support seems to be in the form of i-beams. But the image didn't draw me in for this reason. It's a matter of contrast - a human made object vs. sky, trees, lawn, and other vegetation - in other words, natural objects. The way you've portrayed it emphasizes the juxtaposition. - - My best always, michael

Hi Michael,

thanks for your insightful comments! The structure can't indeed be too flimsy, as it has been standing for some 35 years already. The juxtaposition of man-made and natural elements is probably what made me make the photo, although the shape of the house would be interesting enough if it weren't surrounded by nature. Kind regards, Vincent

A lot of parallel lines and right angles in this structure, Vincent. The colors are extremely pleasing and the composition gives us a great view of the building and surrounding area. Wonderful light and presentation. Best regards, Paul.

Hi Paul,

this picture of a futuristic house does have a lot of straight angles and parallel lines indeed. There is a clear juxtaposition with the forms of nature surrounding it, that may be interpreted differently as you can see in the comments. Thanks for your comments, kind regards, Vincent
