Although there has been a castle on this location since the 14th century, the building that you see here is almost entirely of the 19th century. It is still owned and inhabited by the noble family it is named after. The castle is in the township of Langbroek (now part of Wijk bij Duurstede), a small predominantly agrarian community when I lived there. During some winters, the family van Lynden van Sandenburg invited the locals to skate on the frozen castle pond. I have strong memories of this place and its surroundings, where I spent lots of time as a child.

Wonderful shot and your story, Vincent! Beautiful frame, light, colors, details ... There is a feeling of freshness. Google map helped me understand where it is. Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana

Hi Tatiana,

thank you for your friendly comments! The castle looks 'younger' than most other castles because of the white exterior. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Paul,

thank you for another beautiful comment! The light is that of early spring, when the green slowly returns in landscapes. In reality, the castle is much more enchanting than I portrayed it here. Kind regards, Vincent
