wolfgangarnold 142 Posted May 8, 2019 Agree to Laurent - B/W suits very well here. I can imagine the signs were very colourful and would have distracted from the faces. Although we're seeing only a tiny fragment, the huge, crowded and bustling city (real and/or imagined) outside the frame is very present. Link to comment
DGorinstein 20 Posted May 8, 2019 So my dear friend Jack: It just happened to me....while scrolling down relatively hastily, a strange force compelled me to step back just a few thumbnails only to see with more attention a photograph that just stood out and filled the whole screen....to no surprise, it was yours. A magnificent view from "back stage", through the curtains and scenery like in a theater, a satisfied professional, sitting behind an advertising (a photograph nonetheless) of his trait, of which he is obviously proud, taking a breather. Not knowing kangi, I can only guess it must be something related to food or eating. In any case, a book, a life, from cover to cover in this multilayered (read: multi-paged) life novel. I bow again with great respect. Onegaishimas. My warmest regards. DG Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted May 10, 2019 Laurent, Wolfgang, Daniel, Stephanie - Thanks for your comments on this picture. I really have no agenda when I shoot except to try to make interesting pictures. Why I find them interesting varies from photo to photo. Here I like the shopkeeper framed in his window by the ever-present signs and ads, like a spider waiting patiently in his web for the arrival of the next fly. - without the darker implications, of course. And Stephanie, I believe we all have wonderful lives, it's just that we don't take the time to appreciate them which I'm as guilty of as the next person. We keep getting hung up on our expectations and seldom notice what's right at hand. How often we ignore the gifts so freely bestowed. Link to comment
