patrickcompagnucci 30 Posted February 26, 2019 I really like this photo Michael. I believe it's bronze or some other metal, and my first thought was this is a really artistic menorah, but then again, it almost looks like its alive and moving. Some human or animal legs and torsos just walking around. Great shot. BR Patrick Link to comment
michaellinder 16,612 Posted February 26, 2019 Patrick, you came close in your mention of a menorah. Actually, the subject is a wall mounting of a series of bronze rams' horns (in Hebrew, Shafarot). The Shofar originates from the Abraham and Isaac story in Genesis, and honors the ram which was sacrificed instead of Isaac. I like your comments about the image's animism, and I am most grateful. - - My best, michael Link to comment
Saadsalem 74 Posted March 2, 2019 First thing first, Why we do use fancy expensive cameras to produce photos not any better than those produced by cellphones ? It attracts me immediately ,and I guess it will do so with anyone who likes abstract. I thought they were legs of some kind, but they were really horns as you explain to Patrick, the same story is stated in the Holy Quran of Muslims, and I was delighted to know there is an artistic work to honor the male sheep that was replaced Ishmael according to Muslim or Isaac according to Jew.That have been said I would like to see the shadows of the horns with more darker tone or colors on the wall, I guess it will enhance the work a lot.Thank you so much for introducing this work to my knowledge. Best regards. Link to comment
