Thomas, I feel that the Elves picked this image for Photo of the Week wisely, since it should draw some good conversation. Sadly, that might not happen due to a huge time lapse between this image and its predecessor. In my opinion, the blur of the cars and also of several pedestrians own front of Radio City is the perfect way to highlight NYC's character. Actually, this scene is not nearly as frenetic as others found on this crazy island, but it is a very becoming to display Midtown. To me, the color balance is spot on, as is the lighting. Others might have overdone the colors and sharpness; I'm glad you didn't.

Hi Thomas, congrats on your photo being selected for POTW! There’s a lot to appreciate in this photo. I like the sense of (ephemeral) movement against the “solid, timeless permanence “of Radio City. I also like the contrast between the ‘speeds’ of the different actors (bike, pedestrians, cars).

I also like the basic blue/yellow color contrasts and I’m pretty sure that you’ve done more subtler color grading too (along with other adjustments). The overall effect is wonderful!

What captures my imagination here is the apparition like figure of the bicyclist. Does he belong to this age, or is he from a different time, when bikes used to dominate the city landscape. I have seen other images of city streets with motion blurred cars, but not with a bicyclist like this.

Supriyo, thanks for the nice compliment, I saw the biker coming down the road, and, I got lucky to have home framed nicely in this picture. Again, thanks for the kind words, Tom
