Supriyo 6,008 Posted October 10, 2018 It is definitely a new way of looking at a familiar scene and vantage point. I applaud the photographer's vision of enhancing the water reflections to create the surreal effect. A great way of sharing with the viewers the "electrifying" experience of traversing the Venice waterways. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,613 Posted October 11, 2018 The only problems I have with this image are: (1) I've never been to Venice; and (2) I've never taken a shot like this. I agree with Supriyo wholeheartedly regarding its creativity and originality. One additional observation . . . The image has what I take to be a comprehensive tonal range. Bravo, Vittorio! Supriyo 6,008 Posted October 15, 2018 I agree with you, it looks artificial. On the other hand, this artificiality attracted my attention. The tunnel’s reflections are so overly exaggerated, it’s almost garish to look at. Note the clipped highlights and black spots, probably due to the photoshop sliders moved to the extreme. In a weird way, this actually works for me. The reflections look more like an electrified fabric. The boat, some sort of a vessel from a different world, accidentally emerging in Venice, at the end of an electrified conduit. Otherwise, Venice shots have become too much of a cliche nowadays. DGorinstein 20 Posted October 26, 2018 This for me is so exceptional, original and powerful, that being chosen by the Editors is really great, but in my opinion, this is perhaps a good contestant for Foto of the Year!! Into my favorites immediately. DG Link to comment
