You do a lot of experiments which is one of the reasons I find your work interesting. As is always the case, some of them work for me and others don't. This one is kind of in the middle. I like the left side of the picture more than I do the right. The amount of blur on the left is just right but I feel the right side gets a little muddy.

Jack, the effect I was after was the appearance that the drivers were about too steer their vehicles into a void. Does this change your mind about the image's right?

I'd have to say that the artist's intent is largely beside the point and as much as I enjoy reading the artist's thoughts on his or her own work (and I very much do) it really doesn't effect my reaction to the work which is rarely intellectual and much more visceral. Like you, I take a hell of a lot of pictures and then I have to decide whether to keep them and work on them or delete them. I'm rarely completely satisfied with a picture but I might like some element about it: an expression, the way part of the composition works, some surprising combinations of color which will spare it from digital oblivion, the limbo where all deleted pictures reside.I would definitely have kept this photo but I still would not have been entirely satisfied with the right side. Of course this is my own subjective internal response ; I would never pretend that it had any relation to anye aesthetic absolute.

Jack, thanks very much for the comprehensive response to my question. I guess I was trying to determine whether to try salvaging the image. After reading, specifically, about liking a particular element, I decided to move on.

Yeah, I think that's right. You assess the picture, maybe stop to appreciate some things, add a little bit of understanding to your experience and move on to the next photo. Just keep moving. I really don't have to say that to you. The amount and variety of your work tells me that you already understand that.
