By way of explanation....this is a photo of one of MANY MANY grave markers in the American Cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. I dare say that all military cemeteries of all countries that fought all the wars of history have such grave markers. It took me a long time to tear my eyes away from this grave marker and move on. Just sad!
