Self Portrait 1 - Torn Between the Two Worlds

omeryair

f/7.8, 4 sec, ISO 25. PS used to turn it to B&W and little curve was used to ephasize the face.

Experimenting with self portrait.

I used long exposure to capture this one (not multiple exposures).

Used PS to turn the colors to B&W, curve to darken the faces and crop

it to 3:2 ratio (see attached source).

I LOVE it, Omer!! Great work!! It's very interesting that you used a long exposure to do this. Did you sort of "count" to yourself while you held each pose? I think I'm going to get out my tripod and try this myself. :-) I don't have any comments about changes ... I like it just as it is. I hope that you request a critique from the general photonet public. Good work!!

Actually I did count the time of each pose :~) Two seconds for the center and one second for the side poses. I did request a critique from the photo.net public on this one.

Very well done Omir. This is a great picture. I think you did the right thing by converting it to black & white...it is much stronger than the original.

I had though about trying some long exposure portraits but have not had the time yet. I hope I can come up with something as good as this shot of yours.

Nice work.

I like the BW version . Good idea using a long exposure instead of multiple exposures. Instead of using curves you may have been able to darken the faces by using the Channel Mixer when you converted to BW. It gives a similar effect as using a color filter.

Omer, I appreciate very much this kind of experiments. They force one to think about exposurecharacteristics and to explore the borderlines of photography. In my opinion You succeed in producing a very personal approach to a self portrait. There can be found a lot of symbolism in this portrait, that the audience can explain the way they wanted. This is great work.

I can only agree to everything that was said above. Very creative, and it worked out VERY well. The conversion to b&w suits it too.
