Father and Son

Grateful for any thoughts on this - I'm rather please with it, as the

combination of a slow camera (Rollei TLR) and small child has tended

to be rather challenging - very hard to catch THAT moment. But here,

it seems to have worked. I'd have been happier if I'd managed to

throw the background further out of focus here, but otherwise -

framing, lighting, etc seems to have come together.

Cute capture! I'd experiment with cropping, too - you could lose more of the top of the man's head without sacrificing much and it would focus more attention on the child, which is the most appealing part of the composition. If you cropped some more of the top, you would also lose that line of lighter color background at the top, which would also help. See attached for a quick example. I'd also consider darkening the remaining bright spot, too. I really like this composition - very appealing.

A very excelent photo....I think I would have been tempted to darken the background either with photoshop tools or in the darkroom, but excellent anyway...Thanks for commenting on my yams.....see reply....

I think you're both spot-on with your suggestions. I'll rescan the original neg and have another go.
