You're quite right. This photo of a military cemetery has the exact same feeling as the one I shot in Normandy (albeit yours is B&W).

The feeling walking through the one overlooking Omaha Beach was very somber, especially when reading the names you came to one (of many, many) of the unknown soldiers whose identity is "known only to God!"

Warren, all (as far as I know them) American cemeteries have the same lay out, architecture etc. And hence 'feel' the same. My village is proud to inform you that all graves (even the none graves/the wall of missing) are adopted. We take honor in it to spend flowers at the graves om memorial day, all saint day, etc.

So it relieves the somberness and we try not to forget the offer these young man brought. Looking at the future, mankind will never learn and those who are forgetting there history have to repeat it. I don't want to make you somber.
