Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted May 30, 2017 Hi Holger, Nice image. I like the way the old pier lumber leads the eye across the bay creating nice depth. The light and clouds are excellent. Personally, I'd prefer this without the white border around it. That hems it in for me. Also, I'd lower the contrast on that pier. i recently took the advice of a masterYosemite photographer, Michael Frye, who pointed out that contact in camera RAW should be set at -33 to adjust for over contrast. Have a nice summer. Larry. Link to comment

hstelljes 41 Posted May 30, 2017 Hi Larry, Thanks for the in depth comment and good observations. The frame I can live without but I have to give the other some thought, I have on occasion overcompensated on contrast for uploads to the site as sometimes my image didn't come across as intended. Thanks again, see you soon................Holger Link to comment
stephanie_c1 1 Posted May 30, 2017 has a 3d efect.. as if the dock is part of the water someone meshing together Link to comment

michaellinder 16,613 Posted May 30, 2017 Holger, I'll start by noting agreement with most of the previous comments. Unlike Larry, though, I'm partial to the thin white frame. It provides contrast with the prevailing darker tonality. Given my predilection for abstracts, I spotted something that really grabbed my attention. It seems the image contains evidence of a tremendous feat of strength. What looks like a light pole at the end of the dock appears to hold up an entire jetty and dockage facility. Bravo on the creative composition. Excellent work . . . -- michael Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted June 1, 2017 Such an impressive shot Holger. I really like your choice of POV, that lone bird really adds to the shot :) amazing cloud formations and so great that I can see the buildings through the mist in the far distance ! Hope you are doing well Holger ! Link to comment

Wayne Sadler 609 Posted June 2, 2017 This looks like it required some exceptional tonal work. Excellent work, Holger. Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted June 2, 2017 Chris , Thanks for the visit and comment, see you soon...........Holger...... Wayne, thank you for the astute observation. I'm not normally a big ps guy, usually just small corrections and the like. This one I used some things in a PS elements filters under NK or something like that. I liked how it turned out as it added the tonal qualities you mentioned. Thanks again and see you soon........Best, Holger Link to comment

JamieK 1 Posted June 4, 2017 f/5.3, eh? you're so in love with the world that you want it all! it works really well, but i think it would segment better into near and far if you opened up a little and let the background blur out a bit. best, j Link to comment
