Street Violinist, New Orleans

Plenty of street musicians out all over the French Quarter playing Dixieland

and other forms of jazz! This lone violinist, on an almost empty side street,

was playing classical music. And she was quite good! This shot was taken

from afar. She packed up and left before I could get closer.

The photo as a photo does feel distant. It becomes more of a casual observation than a focused engagement. Physical distance doesn't have to do that but it has to be overcome by other visual qualities that will draw the viewer in. A different angle, capturing something meaningful in the foreground . . . many ways to bridge distance. I see this photo as a good opportunity to consider possibilities.
