alfbailey 4 Posted December 19, 2016 I took a few shots of this guy with the low sun shining on him, then took a conscious decision to move around and see if I could get a few silhouette type shots, to my amazement he actually turned around to face me and I took a series of shots including this one. I warmed the background up a bit, but otherwise did no other PP for this image. I could have brought a lot more detail out of the shadow, but the whole purpose of this shot was to get the silhouette effect. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated .....Thank You. Not Here 93 Posted December 20, 2016 Not only a great silhouette but excellent foreground framing. Animals are very intuitive judges of behavior. Hmmm, what's this guy telling us about you ;-)... Mike Link to comment

richard hans 0 Posted December 21, 2016 Alf, such an eye-catching image, sagacious select nicely visual angle, the silhouette of deer against beautiful sunset, dark fg. & great perspective, which makes subject stand out & majestic feel, really impressive & wonderful rendering! also wish you have a happy holiday season! michaellinder 16,613 Posted December 21, 2016 I'm certainly no expert on silhouettes, but this one immediately grabbed my attention; the silhouetting is so bold and dramatic. I didn't need to see any details in the stag's appearance in order to gauge his audacity, power, strength, and sure-footedness. Interestingly, there is hints of vegetation in the background, contrasting easily with the highly defined, silhouetted vegetation. The soft sky in the background is another beautiful touch. My best always, michael Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted December 23, 2016 Thank you so much! Alf BILL Thanks Bill I was very fortunate that he turned around to look at me when I manoeuvred myself to get the sun behind him. Best Regards Alf MIKE I am not at all sure what this guy is telling you about me, perhaps he guessed I was hungry :) I couldn't eat a full one though lolCheers Mike! Alf GREG Many Thanks for your interest and kind words! Alf EMMANUEL Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, much appreciated! Alf EYSTEIN Thank you so much. I was just in the right place at the right time. Alf TONY Thank you so much! I had to get down on one knee to get the angle, not sure if the deer thought I was taking a photo or proposing marriage :) Alf PATSY Thank you for your interest and continued support which is very much appreciated! Alf RICHARD Thank you for your thoughts and positive feedback! The Deer are not usually this obliging, they tend to be a bit shy in wilds of Scotland, but this time I was most fortunate to get close to three of them. Merry Christmas and a Peaceful New Year to you and your loved ones! Alf MICHAEL I am no expert on silhouettes either, but I have always been fascinated by them. The ones I love best show a little bit of detail and you have to seek it out rather than it jump right out at you, and that's how I've tried to process this one. The shallow DOF helped with the vegetation that you mention and also the soft sky. Sincere Thanks and Best Wishes for the festive season! Alf Link to comment
