Holger,

this is a great shot and I like how calm and deep blue the water appears to be.  I spent a few minutes looking at both images and I think the one shot with the Olympus is the best.  Both images shot at ISO 200 but the Olympus colors are much richer in my opinion.

I like the calm river better, it's just me, it present much more of a flow, it brings out the serpentine river better for me, flanked by wispy vegitation

I really love the stillness and color of the water Holger as well as the composition and sharpness! Well done my friend!

Difficult to give a meaningful answer to your question. The images were taken on different days using camera's with different settings. Both have qualities, the Panasonic seems to have handled the light and detail better, with the Olympus giving rich smooth colours. The Oly was set for "creative programme" so perhaps this added to the rich colours. Both are very good and make a calm scene look very attractive. Best regards Ken.

Hi Holger, I'm unsure if I should be comparing the photographs or the cameras you used. The main difference in the two photos is the day they were taken, the stillness of the water gives the Olympus photo the edge.

I have been using a Pano LX100 for the last six weeks and I love it. Previously for two years I have been using s Fuji X100s leaving my Canon 60D and a collection of lenses at home. Reason for not using he Canon DSLR outfit was down to the weight, so I traded it all in and bought the Panasonic. After much thought I'd decided to stay away from interchangeable lens cameras. I would say my Fuji gives better quality but I'm enjoying playing with the zoom for a while.

Hard to make a like for like comparison, but I would say that the Olympus has the edge.  Richer colour and perhaps a tad more front to back sharpness.

I used to fish in creeks like this when I went to New Jersey, lots of good fishing if you could stand being eaten by the insects in the summer : )

Mehmet has made a very wise comment!

Best Regards

Thank you all for the great comments. I suppose I should have made it more clear as to what I wanted you to compare. Gerald commented admirably on that. I guess I just wanted both images compared but it turned into camera comparisons, sorry about that and thank you Mehmet for your very insightful and kind comment saying it's not the camera but the photographer. The reason I asked for comparisons is mostly I have gone over to light weight cameras and sadly I have sold all my Canon equipment due to my RA. Thank you all again for your wonderful comments, see you soon.

it has a simpler organisation. it's very good, but the other one has so much more depth and drama. i seem to be in the minority, where i belong. best, j

Jamie, I value your opinion as much as anyone else, thank you for expressing it so well. It's all subjective in this world... See you soon.

yes, I realised it is the same, still water versus winding water.

Honestly don't know which to like more, but maybe this one.

I do really like this one Holger.  I love the clarity and depth of color. The quality of light is also very pleasing.  I can relate to your problem re heavy equipment - and I know of many who are experiencing that challenge. I hope you find your 'fit' and end up pleased. Mind you it can take us a while to adjust fully to a new camera. I do hope you are pleased with your results with your new Purchase :) keep on Klicking!
