I think the flare really adds . . . well . . . flare . . . to this photo. I especially like the way the white part of the flare plays with the cloud formations, kind of echoing them in a technical way. Nice textures in the foreground and a nice sense of the peace and quiet of the back country. Not necessarily a pretty scene or even a pretty rendition of the scene, which is part of the reason I like it. It has more feeling and less superficiality than it otherwise would. It feels in touch.
