alfbailey 4 Posted November 26, 2016 After the waterfall shots ...I wandered through the forest taking a few random shots. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated Thank You. Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted November 26, 2016 Into the mist, alone with your thoughts. A good place for it Alf. I like how you've captured and presented this image. Surrounded by peace and quiet a person can really clear their minds in a place like this and the mist helps....Best Regards, Holger Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted November 26, 2016 Very Romantic especially with the couple in the image. Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted November 26, 2016 We're all so accustomed to your meticulously crafted landscapes, and they're art from a camera; but I like the perceived spontaneity of this shot. The soft mist and colorful forest makes a shot of it's own but the figures add presence and sets our senses racing. Superb work... Mike Link to comment

Christal1664882414 0 Posted November 27, 2016 A wonderful foggy early morn.....or so it seems. There is a visceral quality to this that evokes the feelings we had many times on our recent 5-month travels out west. I want to be there! Beautiful image! Link to comment

alfbailey 4 Posted November 28, 2016 I have a confession to make! The mist was added afterwards in PP, but I didn't want to tell anyone in advance of their comments in case it unduly influenced what they had to say. Please forgive me!My Sincere Thanks Alf TONY H I agree the couple in the mist kind of made the shot. But as I have confessed above, the mist was a PP addition. Many Thanks Tony! Alf MIKE As you may have read above, I did a bit of deliberate manipulation with this shot, adding a misty layer. It's very gratifying to know it was so effective, yet I now feel a bit guilty for not revealing it sooner :) Many Thanks! Alf PATSY Thank you so much! Please forgive the added misty layer! Best Regards Alf PIERRE This mist was definitely inserted in PP but I'm glad it worked :) Many Thanks Alf TONY B Many Thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback. The mist was added in PP, but I'm hoping you will forgive that little deception! Best Regards Alf RICHARD Thank you so much! A bit of artistic licence was used adding the mist, but it seems to have been successful.Best Regards Alf CHRISTAL Many Thanks for your thoughts and kind words! I have to admit to a bit of digital deception with this one. I added the mist as an afterthought hope you don't mind me not revealing it until now. My reason for this was because I wanted first impressions.Best Regards Alf RADU Thank you so much. I agree the presence of the two figures add a great deal to what would be just a nice forest scene. The mist was added in PP to further enhance the mood. Best Regards Alf Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted November 30, 2016 Alf the mist is well done....so you're forgiven, and it doesn't change the images effectiveness.Holger Link to comment
sarah_mcnulty 5 Posted December 3, 2016 Hi Alf, I like the artistic licence they you have used with the mist, it adds a whole different element to this image and creates a feeling of mystery and atmosphere surrounding the walkers - if this was in portrait it could be on a book cover! Great work. All the best. Sarah. Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted December 6, 2016 Many Thanks for your thoughts and kind words! Alf HOLGER Thank you so much for letting me know your thoughts. I do appreciate it. Alf SARAH Thank you so much! I have tried to create a story to some extent so your comment about a "book cover" was really gratifying to read.Best Regards Alf Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted December 8, 2016 The mist/fog sure does give this image a dreamy/magical feel. I love that you were able to capture the couple walking in the woods, adds so much to the composition. Beautiful Alf. A joy to view! Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted December 8, 2016 Many thanks for your thoughts and kind words! The couple are real, but the mist was added in PP. Well if it doesn't arrive you just have to make it yourself :) Best Regards Alf Link to comment
michaellinder 16,613 Posted December 10, 2016 The fact that you added the mist in post ultimately makes no difference, except to those purists who insist that the creation of an image must be strictly in-camera. Moreover, given your title, the image would retain its mood and story line even if you hadn't added it. So, I join with the others who have made similar comments (which I didn't read in advance of composing mine). There's one more element which hasn't been mentioned. Aside from seeking refuge from normal day-to-day hubbub, connecting with nature, and connecting with each other, these two people seem to be courageous. Although the image shows or at least implies a trail they're following, it doesn't show (or imply) its destination. To the hikers, perhaps it's just the journey that matters. Masterful work . . . My best always, michael Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted December 12, 2016 Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments!I agree, it is the end result which matters, but I like to be honest about how I create an image. Mostly they are all natural, but sometimes it's necessary to add certain elements to achieve the mood and atmosphere required! I just wish I was better at applying it! The couple seemed to be enjoying their walk, and I'm not even sure of the destination. Suffice to say the part that I do know is a very lovely woodland. Best Regards Alf Link to comment
jorge_fernandez3 1 Posted December 12, 2016 Yes the moment is what really matters, the power of now, eternally! You provide us with a gorgeous moment, I am walking more this days, taking public transportation and becoming aware of details. Congratulations! Warm regards. Link to comment
