Most people focus on the front of the Basilica including me, I decided to share one of the rear. Tripods are tolerated but frowned upon and with the volume of people, it is almost impractical to use. I boosted the ISO and found a spot to lean on so that the camera would be steady.

Mike and Radu. You should see the front. I will post one in the near future.

Celine Dion got married here.  Montreal's oldest Catholic church, built in 1656, is known for its intricately designed interior, which includes stained glass chronicling the history of the city. Entrance used to be free but now it is $5.00 CAD. Some places in Europe you can pay that just to use a toilet.

Celine Dion is not my favorite, but the image of a beautiful church is excellent, sharp and detailed. You may have to pay to get into some restrooms i Europe, but the churches are usually free.

Best regards

Eystein

Beautiful space but the distortion is bothersome to me. You might try using the skew tool to straighten this out a little.

Quite grand Tony. The overall warmth of the place is embracing and I love the blue color above the organ pipes. An impressive place.

Thanks for your kind words. Over 20 years ago I was driving around Europe (Holland, Germany, Belgium, France, etc) and found that in general, if you purchased something you could use their facilities, if not you had to pay.   At that time,  at the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, the lady standing guard to the facilities entrance,  requested $2.50 US to use their toilette. I refused and went to fill up the car with gas and then had use of the "Turkish toilet" facility. I appreciate the current knowledge that churches are a good place to go.  Here is a guide that might be useful to others.

It is one of most aesthetically pleasing church interiors I have seen but I am sure there are others which can compete. Every tourist bus both local and others make sure they make a stop at this place. If I had lowered the camera you would see the entrance and many people. They were all headed to the front of the church.

Thank you for stopping by.

Charles - Thanks. I need to do a bit of post processing on it - applying my lens profile in Lightroom and then straighten it if lightroom does not do it automatically.

As you said, you are not a 'town' person but this one is worth visiting if you are ever in Montreal.  Thanks for stopping by.
