stephen-whitehead 0 Posted July 18, 2016 A wet and windy winters day. A fishing vessel rests on the shore of Loch Carron with the remains of Strome castle in the background. Thanks for looking Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted July 18, 2016 Stephen, Wonderful image with most effective point of view. The prominence and angle of the boat has lots of impact. Looks like a most interesting castle ruin too. You saw this image well. Larry Link to comment
jlg 0 Posted July 18, 2016 Interesting subject, but can't make my mind on whether the background castle competes with the ship. Link to comment
stephen-whitehead 0 Posted July 19, 2016 Many thanks for the comments. I see your point Jose, the goal of the PP was to separate the near, mid and background elements to emphasise the feeling of depth, whilst the boat is the dominant subject the other elements are also important, so I'm happy enough you are feeling this slight tension. Sam_Ryan1664884851 0 Posted July 20, 2016 This one works for me. The colors are particularly pleasing. As an aside, you either live in the middle of interesting ruins or your ship's captains have yet to discover modern navigation. Either way, I am envious of your locale.- Sam Link to comment
stephen-whitehead 0 Posted July 21, 2016 Thanks Sam.I was curious about the boat too, it looks like it was literally thrown up the beach. Link to comment
Miguel1664885901 0 Posted July 21, 2016 Hi Stephen, nice picture catched my eyes.Anyway the boat seems a bit dominant to me or the other way the castle is not able to get my eyes from the boat. Maybe a bit more drama in the sky could balance the strength of the boat and lead the eye in the backgrounnd. Would also try a quadratic format with more of the nice sky.Regards Michael Link to comment
Sam_Ryan1664884851 0 Posted July 21, 2016 Michael, I have to ask. What do you mean by "quadratic format?" Link to comment
stephen-whitehead 0 Posted July 22, 2016 Hi Michael and Sam,Yes, a square format with more sky would give the elements more room to breathe, thanks for your comments :) Link to comment
