Very nice image, however, the burning (darkening) of the sky (or dodging the trees) is too obvious.  I know it's a challenge to get the tones even, but it's worth trying.  The goal is to make it look like you didn't do anything to the image!

I took a look at the original image again... the sky did have some haze.

The sky was very interesting. Though it took me some effort to get the light OK. There wasn't much room for the shot as there was a swamp in front of me. Other angles included electrical wires!! Had to do with whatever space I had.

I just turned on the high contrast and got the effect in B&W. Did not tweak the sky much.
