This timeless image captures the spirit of Naples (and, to some extent, of other cities of Southern Italy) perfectly. Were it not for some modern cars, it could well be an image of post-war Naples in the mood of Neo-Realism. Excellent.

Very nicely done image. It is a true slice of life. Where is the scooter headed? Is the motorcycle trying to catch up with her? Motion and life. I would like it better if it were cropped just to remove the sky. I find it pulls me out the far end of the picture. If the hanging laundry was the upper limit, I think it would bring me back into the picture more. Just a thought, but still very nice.

I can even smell Italy. Roasting coffee, romano cheese, fresh baked bread, salamis hanging from the ceilings. It's wonderful! And I can hear the voices and the traffic echoing up this street.

This photo is extremely rich in content. I've never been to Naples so I can't judge whether this is a typical scene or not however I get a real feeling of what this slice of life might be like. The utter chaos and busy-ness of daily life here is well depicted by the sheer density of the various elements packed into this image visually. The narrow converging perspective helps imo to accentuate this dense, almost claustrophobic feeling as everything merges into one big mass of people, cars and buildings. You could stare at this for days and find new stories to weave from every element that your eye lands on yet at the same time, the choice of sepia toning in some ways nullifies the individuality of the elements and forces them to be seen as a whole. Nice dichotomy. On a more mundane level, the choice of toning is also more pleasing to the eye visually. Well done.
