My first reaction was that it looks so odd that it made me laugh. While the initial humor was somewhat buried the title sticks it to you in an odd way. There is a certain amount of high key and high contrast and I wondered if that added value or not.  I concluded that it added value.

What is it that makes me laugh?  Something about that disembodied head (!?) on its side.  Like a dignified acceptance of a fallen state.  Bizarre, Jack.

Thanks everyone for your response to this picture. Quite a collection of comments from some of my favorite photographers and I'm very appreciative that you took the time to give me feedback. I agree with the feeling expressed by several of you about the tragicomic nature of this photo. I guess it deserves a laugh (Laurel and Hardy, one of my all-time favorite teams, Dan) but like in most comedy there's an underlying layer of pathos. Too much pop psychology for such a simple image, so I'll stop here.

Very interesting, I would say "life photo"! They are not usually manipulated! I'm satisfied!

Cheers

Two heads are better than one.

A geometry of garbage. Glad the black frame is not uniform. Nice touch for the right picture.

I imagine this as not what you saw, but what's inside your mind . . . oh dear.
