pnital 36 Posted March 7, 2016 What I like in this one especially is his hands (fingers !) holding the ropes . it is not easy to draw and you have nicely did it , and for me it shows the skills you have " neglected' for too long! I like as well his body seating on the swing , i do think that his face is loking a bit too "old" for the whole, but i do think it is because you are having too long...(well. i have written it already...) I think that you have to continue !if not you are a "waisted" skill...;-)) Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted March 8, 2016 Hi Pnina,Thanks for the feedback, especially about the hands. I grew frustrated with the face -- I see it shows. Hands are difficult. But with this, everything felt difficult. Thank you for the nudge to get back to drawing too. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted March 8, 2016 Wonderful. It brings back childhood memories of a swing supported by ropes tied to a strong branch of a tree. I remember trying to swing to the maximum height probably to the consternation of my parents. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted March 10, 2016 There is real humor here. Everything seems to repeat--the ropes, the wrinkled clothes, the hands..... Like swinging.....forward....back.....forward....back Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted May 17, 2016 I know you were frustrated Donna - but sometimes from 'angst' comes some really remarkable work. I find this sketch so appealing. Excellent detail. Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted July 5, 2016 This is a most interesting drawing! In every drawing you have posted that I have studied so far, there is the unmistakable character of the person shining through. But in this image it is as though your eyes and memory saw one thing but your subconscious related to someone else, and the result being a combination of boy and man. The face in particular relating to the man.It doesn't make it a bad drawing, even if it didn't come out as you intended. Of course my observations also could be way off and if so please forgive me! But overall I find it fascinating and wonder if you have explored the possibilities as I have outlined. Finally, again I agree with Pnina, you do have a great talent and personally I think you should let rip and let your expressions flourish! Kind Regards Alf Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted July 7, 2016 A very belated, heartfelt and appreciative thank you to Tony, Jeff, Ruud, Pierre, Mari, Mehmet, Gail, and Alf.Tony, I had a childhood like you describe -- also pumped high on the swing and climbed and swung on vines and the woods. So much more fun than text messaging of today's youth!Jeff, I like your interpretation, and it made me smile!Ruud -- miss your work!!! I'm not on FacebookMari, it was a yellow swing, creeky and fun. Pierre, Thanks! I love looking at your work.Thank you Mehmet.Gail, long time... definitely angst here.Alf, that an astute observation, and I think it's right. I know him much better as an adult than I did when he and I were children (me several years younger). Not the first time I had trouble with time warp in faces of subjects I've sketched. It's still hard for me to see a too-mature face on this. You certainly am making me thinking about this stuff. Your comment is fascinating. Link to comment
