Hello my distant and dear friend. I hope you are well. I recently had a "conversation" with a mutual PN friend, regarding precisely what I see in the comments above mine. So there are two themes here. The first will lead me back to the beginning of this note. As I have said many times before, you have a very special ability to influence, move and get the mind of the observer revolving. At first, this magnificent "conception" (as you conceived the capture) suggests a Virgin. In essence then, it is, the immaculate purity of wood, in a nice. So many symbols and archetyps coalesce in this image…the wood of which the Cross was made…and so on. The "odd" appearance of a different element at the bottom of the framed knot, complex and exquisite. Well, I will enjoy the sight for a while longer, as it so deserves such a photograph.

Back from the profound elements herein, I now turn to the conversation I mentioned at the start. It seems there are a few of us - old members, and "old" in the sense of age - that consider that PN's membership has become thinner, shallower and skewing to the amateurish. Nothing new so far. But just today, I mentioned to our mutual PN member, another photo site (sort of like a "forum") where members content themselves with lame and hollow comments like "great!", "nice image" and the like. A pity then that this great space, painstakingly created by the Elves to be a true exchange of feedback and knowledge, has become like a beautiful barn, from where so many elements have been gradually disappearing until becoming a shell….

I am overly certain you know what I mean, so in order to avoid taking more of your valuable time, I leave my ruminant thoughts here, with my deepest respect for your work, your unique and very personal way of perceiving things, and transmuting them….Too bad your efforts are just so casually brushed over by so many, as a mere courtesy… Keep well and best regards.

After all of the comments, it is difficult to bring a fresh perspective. I also see a shrine with signs pointing to a vertical fish. In many cultures people have Gods that come in many forms and I suspect that products of the sea sustained the people in this area at some point in time. Added to this, the warm colors increases my appreciation for this image.

PS I will slowly make my way back after a 5 week absence.

I saw the Blessed Virgin on the thumbnail.  I'm not trying to be snide here.  People see her in pizzas, in stains on the wall, wherever.  A knot of wood. . .

I'm still trying to get my mind around this one, Jack.  Still trying.  I will keep trying.

The older I get, the more I'm convinced that in a very real sense we create our own world, our own universe. We see what we are programmed to see and what we expect to see, as odd as these apparitions and coincidences might seem. If there are no miracles in your life, then there are no miracles in your life. If you believe in fairytales, then your life will take on the coloring and trappings of a fairytale. If you think that reality is only that which can be seen and measured, you are right and that will be your world. Personally, in my life I leave lots of space for fairytales, miracles and blind chance and welcome there visitations. Everyday miracles have enriched my life.
