Supriyo 6,008 Posted January 29, 2016 Very nice light and exposure. I think the composition looks somewhat unbalanced due to the tree and the root being both on the right edge and nothing prominent to balance them on the left side. Also the cropped branches of the dead tree make a less than ideal corner on the top right. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted January 30, 2016 Nice shot. I agree with Supriyo's composition comments. I don't know if you had any obstacles but I might have moved back and to the left and attempted to get all of the tree at the top. I will admit that I have shots where I have chopped the top of the tree but it was mostly because I had limitations that would have endangered my life. All the best. PS I added some contrast to the image. Link to comment
jasonsmith894 0 Posted January 31, 2016 Thank you both for the constructive feedback. Tony, the boosted contrast definitely gives the image some nice punch. As far as composition, I believe I do have a shot that includes more of the tree. I couldn't get further left because there was a sharp drop on the other side of the rocks. Link to comment
Supriyo 6,008 Posted February 1, 2016 I understand the practical constraint here and sympathize with you. The only alternative I can think of (unless you have a wider lens) is to take multiple shots by rotating the camera (4 shots in this case) and then stitching in Photoshop. Link to comment
