Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 11, 2016 Actually the shadow seems to be the most confident element in the picture or the most completely realized as it established itself more clearly than its surrounding environment. This is a picture that cares little about so-called objective world of things and more about ideas and the changing perception of reality. Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted January 11, 2016 Just the right amount of light to get that shadow. An interesting image, and it's one that I'm starting to recognize as your style....perhaps.BR, Holger Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 12, 2016 For me, the shadow is evanescent obviously because of its lightness and I think its discontinuity to its source is also helpful toward the end. Once again, here, you have a more structured geometry as backdrop, the triangle and the diagonal lines. The peach and blue colored road adds to my sense of things in a state of slight evaporation. wolfgangarnold 142 Posted January 13, 2016 many thanks for your comments & thoughts!@Jack: you seem to understand the underlying ideas of my approach to photography pretty well :-)@Holger: though I'm not actively 'forcing' any particular style (as don't want to restrict myselft), I certainly cannot avoid my - necessarily - subjective perception of reality (or realities).@Chris: indeed my idea here was to keep the composition simple and clear.@Fred: very true comment. My attention was caught by the barely visible shadow being in a state between existence and non-existence. It just started to appear when the red-orange streetlamp started to win over the fading light of a grey evening. Link to comment
