Landscapes can be difficult even for the most tedious photographer, but here are a few pointers. Midday shoots mean that you need to look at light and shadows as your composition, not just shapes and lines. That's why most landscape photographers prefer to photograph in the morning or evening, it's less complicated. Here your shadow cuts the boulder on top in half, and the boulder below is also clipped. Your composition even if it had been without the shadows is cluttered as well. The amount of thought you put into a photograph usually shows. Planning where the sun will be, what your plan will be, waiting until the weather gives you the clouds that you need, etc. Time+Effort=Success.
