One of the more impressive storms this summer. It lasted for several

hours and dumped a few inches of rain on us. Your comments and

suggestions are always welcome.

Simple, scary, most interesting photo with striking cloud textures.
"The beast" is hiding somewhere in these clouds for sure.

Thank you Michail and Karl!

I added the grain when converting it to black and white and applied some toning. I wanted to give it some gritty rough look. I'll post the original without the BW adjustment later tonight, so you can compare both versions.

Christoph,  Hurry, run, run... the sky is falling... go notify the king.  Excellent.  I would have headed for the basement, yikes.  Nice image.  Larry

Hi Larry,

at that point I was actually standing waist-deep in the lake to avoid the trees on the shoreline (no lightning yet - that started about 20 minutes later). After that we were very busy collecting all our stuff and bringing it into the cabin. The wind came from the North, the cabin was backed by miles of big trees, so the wind wasn't that big of a deal. But it sure rained! For hours.
We spent the next few hours sitting on the porch, watching the show and playing board games. Only later, when the wind shifted a bit we moved inside (no basement though).

I had the camera on time-lapse the entire time, but didn't really capture too many impressive lightning strikes. This was one of two. I missed a few, but most stayed within the clouds.

Thank you for your comments.

Christoph
