During the herring season, this and a few other small wharfs in this area get over-populated as boats from other areas migrate here to get easy access to the best fishing spots.Boats are tied up to three wide and somehow by some intelligent criss-cross manage to absorb the tide and any turbulence generated by storms;during extreme storms, the captains will be there in the night to make sure that their boats are safe, but I have seen some boats get loose and remember one being projected on the rock berm and sink at this wharf (I will try to dig up some shots I took of this). An interesting gymnastic to observe is when a boat tied closest to the wharf needs to move out when there are two boats on the outside and boats in front and behind....imagine!

Beautifully cared for boats and all so personalized that their importance to each captain is very evident.  Your documentaries open up a new world to us land lubbers.  Well done... Mike

Laurent,  Nice image - you fill the frame well.  I appreciate your commentary.  It's quite educational.  I look forward to learning about life, culture, and geography from images.  Thanks.  Larry

The wharfs are busy for relatively short times before becoming deserted and rather gloomy as the boats are retired for our long winter;this is now started and forecasts our reality....but hoot, another 7 months and the boats will be back in the water for the next season opener.

Thank you for the kind observation.I was born here but school/work took me away very young and retirement brought me back. Our great image seeking hobby got me interested and close to these hard working individuals who risk it all everytime they set out to bring back the delicacies we so enjoy....with a good glass of wine( I speak for myself).Glad you enjoy the images and whatever feedback/knowledge I can pick up and share.
