Marco,

Usually fences or walls around pastures come up from the ground and prevent animals from roaming, but here there is a kind of reversed fence that is suspended above the cows.  Odd and nonsensical, like something in a dream.  The one-legged disembodied calf head is also strange.  I like these oddities.  I also like the blackness of the cows, and the color palette of green and orange.  It seems saturated, maybe too much so.  I assume the iron gates are part of a flood control system?

Mark, It is a part of a former line of defense along the river Rhine. If they closed the iron walls the water could not stream further and caused a flood. It creates for the enemy a barrier. This area is now a natural park with many flowers, birds, Galloway cows and konik horses. Thanks for your comment. On the iron walls the youth painted graffitti. It is indeed a little too much saturated, but in my opinion it shows a nice contrast with the nature.

Marco, all of these postings are very nice; I find I like these of the cows a bit better. As mentioned, I think the juxtaposition of nature with manmade contributes. Ans somehow, the cows seem more expressive to me.
