Marco, Jose -thank you for stopping by and commenting. Marco the water is truly ice cold as you can expect. However, last Summer was exceptional. The weather was very warm and we drove up to the tundra area in Jokkmokk, Sweden and then took the helicopter even higher to places where the deep rivers are and ground is free of trees. The rivers are from that area and in certain places very deep and between lakes which are even deeper. Around these areas you can catch "röding as the locals call it. In Wintertime you can catch them by simply putting a worm on the hook and by drilling a hole to the ice if you live in a right place and can park beside the lake. I used to do this when I was working up there and you could tell the places as the locals tend to leave their windcovers (which are everything from a tent to a telephone box, pro-looking stealth structures. At the right time - mostly early in the morning 4-6 hours in the morning and then noon again the fish will eat and you can catch these beauites in small to bigger amounts to your kitchen. The season is in Spring time, when you can see something.

Last Summer was so warm that we were swimming in these rivers and lakes and the fish were "down there". The good thing was that the tundra was dry in such a way that there were no mosquitos either, which can be a nuicance to say the least. This time not a single one was seen. We got only one reasonable size "röding" to taste although it was the fish we were all out there. We were fly-fishing mostly but tried all possible means available and got only some small trouts, which we let go. At the right time and conditions in this place for example can develop to such that it is known as a very good fishing place, but turned equally good swimming place.

An excellent abstract realism image and a superb summary.  Something tells me that your swimming water is more like our ice water temperature and our swimming temperature is more like your hot bath ;-)... Mike

Thank you Mike for stopping by the waters;) and writing such kind words. I am glad you enjoyed the photo and the short story. All is relative when it comes to temperature and right clothing. However, I have a feeling that here in the Nordic countries we have so many opporturnities to train ourself with the cold -since we are kids - that it makes us more capable to endure the temperature variations in everyday life. Alltogether, I believe that these things are the same as with the pain, very personal.
