gooseberry 0 Posted June 15, 2015 ...and reflection: I note you've cropped it into a square format, John, so am wondering what you've left out (?) -- I think I would have went with a portrait format to shown more of model's reflection. Link to comment
John Peri 1,039 Posted June 15, 2015 I totally sympathize with your comment Tomek, just bad framing on my part .. that said, and I know I am repeating myself, but all the galleries I visit have photos with amputated ears, slopping walls and horizons, burned out areas and every other anomaly that you can think of. Somehow it does not seem to reflect on the impact that the works have in the real, non-virtual world of photography or the astronimcal prices which they go for .. : -) I have no objection to showing you the original, you may even decide that it has some merit, but I thought that the message was clear enough without the reflection, a little like attempting to drown the fish if you see what I mean. Many thanks for passing by and for your comment, both much appreciated. gooseberry 0 Posted June 20, 2015 ...have tried different crops (one example above), but couldn't find one I'd be truly happy with, which makes me think that your crop was the winner in this case. Link to comment
John Peri 1,039 Posted June 20, 2015 Thanks Tomek, it's tricky sometimes, I feel that a lot actually lies is in the expression, so it carries the rest of the frame pretty well, whatever you do with it .. her merit not mine. Ha, but you removed the pearls in the reflection, hmm, interesting .. : -) Link to comment
gooseberry 0 Posted June 21, 2015 Well spotted, John: I did clone them out indeed -- somehow they didn't compose well with the rest in this crop. As for your gorgeous model's expression, feels to me that my alternative framing detracts from it, which is exactly why I favour your take on it. Link to comment
