When I reach a time when I take a "perfect" photograph I shall give up, there are always faults, but if I can keep them as small faults I am happy : - )

This is beautiful Alf! So dramatic, great tones. I could swear I've seen the color version but don't see it anywhere in your portfolio - though I could be confused. Your b/w version is outstanding. Thank you for sharing. :)

The good thing with the UW lenses, and of course depending on the photographer, is that it gives you the sense that you are inside the photo...I feel like seeing myself pulling the rope... Very good shot, I am sure you had your reasons to convert it in BW.  If I had to find something negative is the (over) sharpening.  But that's a totally personal taste.  Take care my friend!  Cheers!

The great thing I find about the wide angle lenses, is the way they capture dynamics and leading lines, sometimes not always apparent to the eye, but once viewed through the viewfinder they become more obvious.

I don't know how I missed this Alf, but alas I did. After reading a few of the comments already posted I have my work cut out for me. I like the rope leading us to the boat, compositionally excellent. The tack sharp details always a trademark of yours and the wide angle approach with all things leading to the subject, all perfect. Into my favorites. Take care my friend.

Many Thanks for your interest and thoughtful feedback.  It's a great site to get a good variety of feedback, some people think this is over sharpened whilst others seem to like it as it is.  I do think the "Nik Silver Efex" software used in processing has something to do with this one.

Hi Alf,

One day when I become a 'great landscape photographer' I will remember that I 'cut my teeth' whilst viewing your lovely work :) There have been many who have recommended the Nik Suite of Plugins to me.  I have no doubt that Silver Efex Pro allowed you to really bring out the dynamics of this capture. You have had the Plug In long enough to know your way around it. I find this composition to be 'visually brilliant'. You have so many beautiful images that you could frame....but once again I have to say this one would look fantastic framed. The 'depth' in this image is almost tangible and invites the viewer to get their feet 'wet'!

Dear Alf, it's always a pleasure to visit your portfolio full of wonderful images. So many times my words are: Wow! Stunning! Outstanding! and sometimes I'm just speechless. You are a photographer that inspires me. Thanks for sharing your wonderful work with us.

Yes, Nik Silver Efex really does have the capability to bring out excellent detail, the variations are endless and the "film" effects are really good too and I can thoroughly recommend it if you are considering B & W or toned images. 

I am not very good at taking compliments, but in this case I have to agree it would look goo framed. 

As for  "wet feet" .........well I have had my share of them in this location .....the tide comes in at an alarming rate and I have been caught a few times......getting too old to try and outrun the tide these days though : - )

Black and white is not easy to master. I can almost envision the colors in this shot. Beautiful.
