Mark Z 371 Posted April 4, 2015 Els,This photo will no doubt prompt someone to mention O'Keeffe. The subject matter is certainly similar to her flower paintings, and it is presented in extreme close-up, also O'Keeffian. But few of her flowers were done in monochrome. It's not the obvious choice because orchids usually have such gorgeous colors and it's hard to see beyond that. But monochrome works here, and it puts the emphasis on the form and the flowing lines of the sepals and petals. The backlighting also makes it interesting and a bit unusual. Link to comment
